This meetup goes over some basic dos and don'ts for posing and looks at issues to do with shooting in daylight for the best results. Included are: shooting different body types, men, women and shooting with strong sunlight and shooting in shade, and designing your background (composition). On this meet,up you are encouraged to bring along family or friends as models.
You will preferably need a normal, 85mm or longer lens, or a zoom. If you have a wide-angle this can also be used as we will be also looking at environmental portraits.
This is the perfect meetup to learn how to take the perfect portraits of family and friends.

The most rewarding part of the class is learning how to approach interesting people and have them willingly pose for you.We will also go over settings, focusing techniques and lens choices common to street photography to help us capture those random chance encounters.

This class is designed to give you a solid understanding of the fundamental basics of photography the 'nuts and bolts' stuff that will set you on the path to understanding your camera and how to create great shots. Armed with these fundamentals, you will have the skills and the confidence to approach any style of photography, from portraits to landscapes and everything in between.During this course, we will cover such topics as the Exposure Triangle, Camera Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO and Composition.Photography is a technical exercise and there is a lot to learn, but these basics apply to any type of photography. However, as we only have a limited time to cover each of these topics, please keep a copy of this course guide and practice these tricks and techniques over and over again whenever you can.Taking great photos takes time, practice, patience and consideration. In the beginning stages,it is very easy to become frustrated that your images don't capture your subject as you would like to. This is perfectly normal and even professional photographers face this same challenge. Be patient with it, you're learning and with practice your photography will improve with every shot.

Natural Light Portraits

This meet-up will explore how we can take beautiful portraits using natural light and backgrounds. We will explore how to recognise flattering light and how to manipulate it whilst shooting in a less controlled environment than a studio. We will explore how we can work collaboratively with our subject to achieve a portrait that captures their personality and style. We will also look at posing and setting your subject at ease. Technical learning points will include accurate focusing and metering for skin tones. A model is present during the session.
Floral and Nature Painting

The focus of this two-hour structured session is the studies of floral and nature painting. You will be guided to select your choice of reference in the garden, take photograph references and complete one or two studies of the selected plants and flowers. You will learn how to compose floral and nature paintings using traditional and contemporary composition methods. If you are a nature enthusiast, this session is perfect for you. You will have a chance to meet and greet like-minded people, choose your own subjects in the garden and be guided to complete the studies and have some take away homework with the learnt technique. All level and experience are welcome. Please bring watercolor painting travel kit (this can be watercolor tube paints or watercolor pan along with ink pens, pencil, rubber and watercolor pads or drawing pads. You are also welcome to bring your choice of medium. Also a smart phone to take reference photos will be handy. Don't worry if you forget anything. I will have some back up materials.

For this class, bring a sketchbook or some drawing paper (A5 or A4 is ideal), along with a pencil, mechanical or HB is fine. An eraser is a must, and if you have a fineliner or gel pen (especially in black), bring that too.

Feel like you've “never been good at drawing”? Or maybe it's been years since you last picked up a pencil? This class is made just for you. The Fundamentals of Drawing is a welcoming, no-pressure space to learn the basics, or finally make sense of them.
We'll take it step by step: understanding shapes, getting proportions right, and learning simple shading tricks that make a big difference. No fancy materials needed, and no prior experience expected. Just bring your curiosity and whatever sketchbook or pencils you have.
Please bring a sketchbook (A4 or A5 is perfect, but any size will do), along with an HB pencil and a softer pencil like a 2B or 4B. A soft white eraser or kneaded eraser is recommended, and a sharpener is always handy. A ruler can be useful for practicing proportions and perspective, though it's not essential. Feel free to bring any pens or extra tools you enjoy using.
