A most educational morning led by Brett, who coaxed us to consider four diverse camera settings to catch the urban landscape. I did like the emphasis on thinking about the unfolding story, and to consider what one is attempting to capture. There was sufficient time to practice the individual camera modes/ movement and to learn from each other. Brett is most motivating, knowledgeable and kindly. I very much appreciate his efforts to sort my eyepiece, even after the session was over. I look forward to ? snapping? more with him soon.

Excellent. Tutor started by explaining the theory of photography and then moved on to explain the technicalities of my camera, settings and how I can get a good portrait shot in sunlight and in shade. He has also assigned challenges as exercises for us to do based on our levels. All in all I thought it was a great use of a bright sunny weekend in Edinburgh. Thank you for organizing these workshops.

    Sam Ealam
Hi, I'm Sam. I am a professional photographer based in Nottingham, UK. I've been specialising in gig photography for the majority of my professional work but I have a range of experience in portrait and landscape photography. I moved to Nottingham to study Filmmaking at Nottingham Trent University, which has given me a range of opportunities to work with a range of equipment and technical processes.

I shoot with a Sony A7iii with a Samyang 24-70mm lens (+ 18mm) but I often attempt to get my hands on other lenses and cameras to practice techniques and processes I am not familiar with. I love learning as well as teaching and feel that photography is always unique to the photographer and I really enjoy listening to everyone's feelings and thoughts in all aspects of photography.

Sam Ealam is available for private bookings

Available most weekends outside of classes and events
